About Agency
Erie Insurance sells auto, home, life and business insurance through our network of independent agents in 12 states and the District of Columbia. Keller-Brown Insurance Services in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania, has been providing customers with insurance for their specific needs for over a century. The agency established in 1899, originally in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania, is now in its fifth generation and more successful than ever.
Keeping It in the Family
The family business may have been founded in 1899, but growing up, a career in insurance was the farthest thing from Sarah’s mind. Originally wanting to be a high school English teacher, she graduated from Duquesne University with a degree in business. The pull towards insurance was too strong, and her first job was found with a national insurance company. She had roles in underwriting and loss control, but after 3 ½ years, it was time to join the family business and in 2008, she become the 5th generation in her family to join the insurance agency. She is now the President and CEO.
Since beginning her career, Sarah has earned several designations, including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), and Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS). This education helps her provide customers with the best service and coverage possible.
When she’s not working in the agency, she has an active community presence, serving on the boards of a publicly traded community bank, the Farm and Natural Lands Trust of York County, Insurance Agents and Brokers of Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware, The Susquehannock Alumni Association, and the Erie Insurance Sales and Marketing Task Force.
Despite all of these activities, Sarah’s most fulfilling role is raising her daughter, Claire, alongside her husband on their farm outside of Glen Rock. In fact, the title that makes her most proud is when people refer to her as “Claire’s Mom.”
Exceptional Service
To help meet the diverse insurance needs of her clients, Sarah has a team of 20 staff members she relies on. The agency staff members are all licensed insurance agents who either have a professional designation or are currently pursuing one.
“They’re ‘professional worriers’ so you don't have to,” Sarah jokes. “We strive to provide consistent exceptional experiences to our clients. When it comes down to it, helping people and lifting up our community is what an insurance career is about.”
Supporting the Community
Giving back to the local community is extremely important to the agency. The agency supports a variety of local charitable organizations including sponsoring a family through Community Reach, supporting employees volunteering through Junior Achievement, volunteering at the Shrewsbury Fire Company Carnival and volunteering for Wreaths Across America.
